I’m new to urbex, and a minor living in NC. Having a very protective, teacher parent makes urbex difficult for me, because if there is any chance of a location being unsafe or privately owned, I’m not going anywhere. If anyone has any spots for suggestion, I’d love to hear. But I do see why people keep locations secret: vandals. I would love to get some photography shots of these locations. In between fernald being a home for the mentally unstable and it's demise, it was a homeless shelter (one of them was called Sandra's house, the one I was in, was called the Hestia House. They closed our office in Munich Germany and reopened it in Holland. We would build the machines in Rockford, the payments would go to Holland, thus our company went bankrupt. I felt bad for those in their late 50's early 60's that lost their jobs. I was in my late 30's and was able to rebound.

You can not see the Mississippi river from Joliet. The Des Plaines river runs through Joliet, further to the west would be the Fox River. You have to get to the other side of the state to be any where near the Mississippi. The east doors of the prison were opened for the beginning of The Blues Brothers, that was it. It is about 12 seconds of the movie.

So east hills mall in Bakersfield CA was torn down a few years ago and is gated off but I spent a lot of time on this mall right before it closed low key used to use the hidden walkways that are for employee's only to "get it on" 😮😂 with my ex boyfriend back in the day lmao... But I know TMI..... About a year before it closed back in 2015 I went to the theater in east hills mall and I found 4 brand new four hundred dollar bills just laying there by the entrance of one of the theater rooms itself 🎉 it was bad ass unfortunately my group home found out I didn't report it and made me give it back and we turned it in

Belchertown state school has been gone for over a decade. . . There IS a bigger mental health facility that predates this a few towns over. It was built in the late 1700's early 1800s.

The people working were immigrants and they did not care you were there.

I live right by the old anoka sanitarium, and it’s not so creepy anymore. Years ago a team of renovators went on and cleaned it to make a veterans home. While cleaning I volunteered and got to paint some rooms inside. And it was creepy as hell I won’t lie. But it looks way cleaner and better now.
